Light At the End Of the Tunnel

It’s been a while since I’ve wrote. Things haven’t been the best for me. I’m still working at the newspaper, but many things have changed. My uncle who was living with my daughter, grandfather, and I passed away. Two days after Christmas Day we found him in his bed. I won’t go into the details but it was a shock. We are still dealing with the grief of losing him. Never let anyone tell you there is a time limit on grief.

Just before Christmas my daughter was diagnosed with Frieberg’s Disease. It’s an uncommon disease and in 80% of cases it happens to females. A bone ( the third metatarsal ) in her foot is dying because of lack of blood supply. The doctor does not know what caused it but we are dealing as best we can. We are hoping by the end of the year she is all healed up.

I have made several plans this year to travel but they have all fallen through. It has been one thing after another. But we will be going to Disney World in October, so at least we have that one thing to look forward to this year. Hopefully those plans won’t change! There have been many more things going on in these past few months as well.

Some good things that have happened are my best friend’s sister and her fiance have set a date on their wedding! It looks like my daughter and I will be flying to England for Christmas next year for a winter wedding. I am really happy to be going back “home”. I am counting down the days until I can see my friends again. Also my cousin and his girlfriend recently were married. They were nice enough to give me the opportunity to photograph their wedding for them. Of course I did it as a gift to them. Now they are off to Disney World for their honeymoon.

I am finally beginning to look on the bright side again. After so much negativity this year already it has been hard. Life goes on after death but not always as quick as you would like. In January I purchased a new car, so now my daughter and I can take more adventures further from home. Keep an eye out for new blog posts soon to come.

So here’s to hoping this year can only get better!
